Today we’d like to introduce you to Lydia Simmons.
Hi Lydia, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am Lydia Simmons, the CEO of 2 health tech firms: M.O.O. (Moms Official Objective) and Motherocity Health. My own experience of facing a life-threatening gap in postpartum care inspired me to create a line of supplements that are gluten-free, vegan, and rich in superfoods. I am passionate about helping mothers navigate the challenges of postpartum life. Our postpartum recovery system is specifically designed for postpartum mothers who need the right kind of nutrition to aid in their recovery. As we continued to explore ways to support new mothers, we came up with the idea of our newest startup, Motherocity, whose beta Motherocity Postpartum App was released for download in October 2022. This app takes our mission even further by utilizing data science and artificial intelligence to provide critical support to women and new parents during the first 52 weeks after birth. Our app is designed to provide mothers with personalized recommendations and risk assessments on everything from nutrition and exercise to mental health and sleep. With the help of AI and data science, we can create tailored plans specific to each other’s needs and preferences. Our supplements and app are just the beginning of our efforts to provide mothers with the tools and support they need to thrive during this important time.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been fairly smooth?
As a Founder and CEO, our journey has been far from smooth. Like any other startup, we faced several challenges along the way. One of our biggest struggles was finding the right balance between providing high-quality supplements and keeping our prices affordable for new mothers. We spent a lot of time researching and sourcing the best ingredients for our supplements, but we also wanted to ensure they were accessible to everyone. Another challenge we faced was developing the Motherocity Postpartum App. We had to bring together a team of experts in data science, AI, and postpartum care to ensure that the app was effective and easy to use for new mothers. Despite these challenges, we persevered and focused on providing new mothers the best possible care and support postpartum. We are proud of what we have achieved so far, but we know much work still needs to be done.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
M.O.O. is committed to using the latest science and technology to develop innovative solutions that help new mothers thrive. I am most proud of M.O.O. and Motherocity’s impact on the lives of new mothers worldwide. Our company has received countless messages from women who have used its products and found them incredibly helpful in their postpartum journey. When doing this work, messages and stories are your 360-degree review. It is most significant and fulfilling when moms and parents tell you that you helped them get through a difficult financial moment when they couldn’t purchase infant formula by assisting them in reaching their nursing goals. It’s even more wonderful to know that you assisted a family in overcoming a postpartum event that you and your family had previously fought to overcome. I want readers to know that M.O.O. and Motherocity are dedicated to advancing equity in maternal health and providing new mothers with the best possible care and support postpartum. Our company’s products and services are designed to address the unique needs of new mothers and parents, and its commitment to innovation and science-based solutions sets us apart in the industry.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
There are several ways that people can work with Lydia and collaborate to further the mission of M.O.O. and Motherocity Health. One way to support M.O.O. is to purchase their products on their website (EveryMOO.com) and through select retailers. By using M.O.O.’s supplements, new mothers can get the nutritional support they need during postpartum and breastfeeding.
Another way to collaborate with Lydia is to share their resources and services with others. Motherocity offers a postpartum app with a free Postpartum Plan Creation tool, a range of support services, personalized coaching, and virtual education to help new mothers navigate the challenges of motherhood. Midwives, Doulas, and Women’s Health Clinics are encouraged to create a free profile so that expectant and new parents can find them in the Motherocity Maternal Health directory. Sharing these resources with others can help spread the word and support new mothers and parents.
Finally, people can support themselves by participating in community initiatives and events. Lydia, M.O.O., and Motherocity are committed to advancing equity in maternal health. They often partner with organizations and individuals who share their values and extend a standing invitation to join them in their work to improve maternal health and reduce inequities worldwide.
